We actively support the development of alternative energy technologies and research work in the area of new materials to meet the relevant growing global demand.
The ONEXIM Group has founded the Expert Council on Nanotechnologies to identify and reasonably implement the most promising nanotechnology projects that will define the future of science and technology in Russia. The business community will be able to become the catalyst for intellectual and scientific research by identifying the most commercially viable innovations.
There are many areas where nanotechnologies could be applied, including:
- creation of superhard materials and new vehicles
- development of technologies and substances designed for materials processing on the atomic and molecular level
- creation of highly efficient solar batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen batteries
- development of genetic medicine and new treatment methods
- creation of smaller data storage devices, transistors and efficient increase in computer processing speed
- development of new materials and processes for environmental protection, energy saving and treatment of water and air
In December 2008, the ONEXIM Group in collaboration with the RUSNANO Corporation launched a new project on producing LED (light emitting diodes) in Russia under a unique technology. Within the framework of this project, ONEXIM has bought the OptoGan company, which is the owner of this technology.
In January 2010, ONEXIM announced commencement of the project, jointly with Yarovit Holding, on designing a city car of a new type. The concept of the City-Car project implies incorporation of innovative components into configuration and production technology, as well as into the marketing and operational infrastructure methods.
